Sealer Application is a high-performance treatment to protect the natural stone against staining and the harmful effects of water and rising dampness. The Sealer products used by Noor Al Manama are eco-friendly and we take utmost care that they are not harmful to the environment or the health of users; either during or after application. The main benefit of using our Sealer Application is that it penetrates the natural stone deep down, which guarantees strong and lasting protection without compromising the original breathability of the surface since it does not create any type of film. It also does not alter the original appearance of the material.

How Does Floor Sealing Work?

Floor sealing works effectively by filling up the pores of the surface with polymer molecules. This results in providing a very smooth surface that is resistant to ingress from water or dirt. When dirt gets onto an untreated floor, it can bed itself into the porous surface, making it appear grimy and dull. Dirt can also be ground into the floor over time, causing more damage.

The new surface provided by the sealant is much smoother, allowing dirt to be easily cleaned away. It also provides a physical barrier between the dirt and the floor to prevent permanent damage.

Different Types Of Floor Sealants

There are three main types of floor sealants widely used: Polyurethane, Solvent-based and Water-based.

Polyurethane sealants provide a very strong and durable coating, but being fairly toxic, they tend to create a lingering odor. Solvent-based sealants are strong but also pretty toxic, thus making their application possible only in well-ventilated areas. Water-based coatings are more eco-friendly as compared to the other two types but they are less effective as well.

We at Noor Al Manama take the initiative to guide and recommend which type of sealant is best suited to you depending upon a number of factors, such as the material from which the floor is made, how frequently do you wish to strip the floor, and lastly what type of traffic/ audience it needs to withstand.

Application Of Floor Sealant

Before the sealant can be applied to the floor, it needs to be thoroughly cleaned and dried. The surface should be free from any kind of residue of oil, grease, or grime, and/ or any surface contamination should be removed. As any dirt or small particles, if are present, they may get trapped within the sealant, leading to a less effective coating. For best results, we recommend that floors that are not structurally sound should be repaired before sealing.

Floor sealing is usually done with a brush. Foam brushes are ideal for creating a smooth, even coat of sealant, although other brushes may be used.

Sealing is usually done in multiple layers. A thin, even first layer is applied and left to dry completely before another is added. Care must be taken to ensure that there are no bubbles or bumps in the sealant.
