“Crystallization” is the name the process was given as it incorporates a tough all over layer of micro-crystals which, by means of the chemical reaction, and by using specific purpose built machines for this application, (correct speed and weight of the machine per square centimeter) and the adequate chemical product, “fuses the stone surface to be treated”. It also increases the hardness of the stone surface by 2 or 3 degrees on the Mohs scale. Crystallization makes the stone surface more resistant to abrasion and gives it a clear and mirror like shine, giving it the appearance of CRYSTAL.
The benefits of crystallization are
Increase in glass levels giving you a shiny floor.
Durability as the surface of the stone has been chemically altered to Calcium Fluro silicate which has higher durability and less porous.
Daily maintenance after crystallization
Since the crystallization of marble floors is an expensive proposition, this process cannot be done on a frequent basis (every two or three days). Consistent foot traffic on a crystallized marble floor will reduce the glass levels steadily every day. Therefore, it is imperative for us to ensure that the crystallized marble floor is maintained so that the gap between the two crystallization cycles can be increased.
The following steps can be taken to maintain crystallized marble floors
- Damp mopping of the floor with a neutral cleaner and microfiber mop. This activity needs to be done depending on the foot traffic the floor is subjected to.
- Use a Maintainer. Marble maintenance product with the help of a single disc to ensure that the gloss levels do not reduce quickly. This process of crystallization can be used on all types of Marble and is a very good method to ensure its longer life and enhance its appearance.
